The Town of Blandford is in the process of developing a Resilient Master Plan that will help the Town make conservation and development decisions for the next 10 years and beyond. By communicating a long-term vision of Blandford as a resilient community, the Resilient Master Plan will provide goals and strategies to guide land use, housing, business growth, public services, open space and resource protection. When finished, the Resilient Master Plan will be adopted by the Planning Board, following an extensive citizen engagement process. There will be many opportunities for residents to participate in the Resilient Master Plan process and help shape the Plan’s recommendations. The first opportunity to participate is coming up! Please join in this dialogue (and share widely) with assistance from the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission for our first Virtual Visioning Session on Thursday, February 4, 2021, from 6:00-8:00PM. This online event is free and open to the public! During the Visioning Session, PVPC staff will introduce the project and engage participants in developing the Resilient Master Plan Vision Statement: an image of the kind of community they want for their future and an agreed-upon basis for action.

Another opportunity to participate in the Master Plan process to help shape the Resilient Master Plan would be to fill out the community-wide survey by either of the following methods:

Construction continues on our Broadband Network. On Monday, January 11, Sertex began attaching Fiber to existing strand in FSA04. There are two crews working on Chester Road. Very soon they will begin installing strand in FSA01. Please refer to the December 20 update for go-live estimates for your area.
With free connection to your home, including equipment, there should be no reason not to sign up now. Please encourage your friends and neighbors to sign up if they have not already done so. We are currently at 67%.
Finally, we can actually say that Blandford will have High Speed Internet THIS YEAR! Starting in early spring, fiber to the house installations will begin. However, they will not come to your house unless you have signed up, either for service or a “cold drop”.
