The National Weather Service has announced that tropical storm Henri is expected to make landfall in New England this Sunday, August 22. The current forecast has the storm moving into the region Sunday afternoon and lasting through Monday morning. We could receive 4 to 8 inches of rain and wind gusts of 50 to 60 miles per hour. Be sure that end of driveway culverts are clear from any debris to help prevent flooding. Residents who are on well water, be sure to store some drinking water in case of power outages. Our emergency response team will be tracking the storm and ready to respond to emergencies accordingly.

HEARING: Springfield Water and Sewer Commission Land Acquisition

Notice is hereby given that application has been made on behalf of the Springfield Water and Sewer Commission for the approval of the Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) for the Springfield Water and Sewer Commission to acquire certain lands or rights of land in Blandford, Massachusetts for public water supply protection purposes, said land in question being identified as Lot 2 and Lot 3 of Map 403 Parcel 6.2, having been recorded in the Hampden Country Register of Deeds in Book 23128, Page 420, located at Gibbs Road within the watershed of Little River.

In response to said application, the MassDEP acting under the provisions of General Laws, Chapter 40, Section 39B and Section 41, as amended and each and every other act thereto enabling, will hold a hearing, remotely, on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 10:00 am. Access to the hearing is as follows:

Draft of the Update to the Town’s Open Space and Recreation Plan Available for Review

The Blandford Open Space and Recreation Plan Update Advisory Committee has completed a draft update of the Town’s Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP), last adopted in 2004, which guides Town decisions about open space and recreation management and growth over the next seven years.

The OSRP update process has built off of other recent planning efforts in Blandford to assesses the current status of recreation and conservation lands in the community and identify community needs based on a set of goals and objectives developed through a public comment process.

Members of the public are now invited to review the draft Plan Update and updated 7-Year Action Plan here.
