Blandford Walking Map & Event on 10/9

The Town of Blandford, collaboratively with Healthy Hampshire, has created a walking map that highlights the best routes and loops in town for walking – with levels ranging from easy to challenging and terrain that includes sidewalks, roadside shoulders, dirt paths and dirt roads. With funding from the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office and Healthy Hampshire, the map was created as part of an effort to support people of all ages and abilities to take advantage of one of the easiest and most accessible forms of exercise: walking. The map features historical, cultural and ecological points of interest in addition to the walking routes.

Blandford will be hosting an event in conjunction with the Hilltown Mobile Market on Oct. 9 to showcase the maps to town residents.

Members of the Board of Selectmen, the Town Administrator, and other local town officials look forward to join the new management of Ski Blandford for its 2018/2019 season Kick Off / Open House Party on November 3, 2018 beginning at 11:00am. The location of this family friendly event is 41 Nye Brook Road, Blandford, MA 01008. Members of the public are invited to participate at this event, witness the unveiling of its Phase I area improvements, and join-in on the activities scheduled for this day.

Ron Crozier, General Manager noted, “We have been hard at work, and we genuinely appreciate the continued support of the Town of Blandford, our loyal pass holders, and everyone who has shown their support throughout our efforts to revitalize the ski area. We are ready to celebrate skiing and riding’s return to Blandford!”

Blandford Selectman Eric McVey mentioned, “It is great to see a local business interest investing in the community and recreation opportunities in the Gateway Hilltowns.”

Interim Town Administrator Joshua A. Garcia noted, “Ski Blandford is a regional asset anchored in our town and their presence will support our ongoing efforts to make Blandford and the Gateway Hilltowns a destination for visitors.”

In a recent release from Ski Blandford, we can expect new snowmaking and grooming equipment to be on display for viewing and pictures, in addition to the renovated lodges. There will be BBQ lunch, and it will be a Springfield Thunderbirds themed party with music and games. Thunderbird’s Mascot Boomer will be at the BBQ giving away free hockey tickets. He will also bring a bunch of fun activities for kids including an inflatable hockey shooter and cornhole.
